Movie clip talk

Syfte

Eleverna ska utveckla kunskaper i att söka, värdera, välja och tillägna sig innehållet i talat språk från olika källor. Eleverna ska ges möjlighet att utveckla sin förmåga att förstå talad och skriven engelska, att kunna formulera sig och samspela med andra i tal och att kunna anpassa sitt språk till olika situationer.

Läraren reflekterar

Denna lektion har fungerat väl, då eleverna uppskattar att få välja något de har sett, kan berätta om och framför allt, tycker om. Bra förutsättningar brukar skapa motivation.

Metod

Work individually or in pairs. Pick a movie and a scene from an online video provider, such as YouTube. Let your teacher decide on the maximum length of the video clip. Example: From “The Truman Show”. This is a key scene from the movie, where the main character starts to suspect that his life is a lie. Decide yourself if you want to present some information before and some after the clip is played, if you want to present all of it before playing the clip, or all of it after playing the clip.

Arbetsuppgifter

Speak for a couple of minutes, without notes, about:

• Where the scene is located.
• Who is/are in the scene and what things are in the scene?
• Describe the characters in the scene and explain who they are and why they are there.
• What is going on in the scene?
• Why it is happening?
• What happened just before the scene?
• What is going to happen next?
• Why you picked that scene. Don’t just say “because it’s funny/good”, explain your choice. How is it typical for this movie? How is this clip different from the rest of the movie? Is it representative for an actor’s way of acting? Are there words or expressions that need to be explained? Accents? Slang?

Remember to prepare. You must know what to say and how to say it, in proper English, both concerning pronunciation and vocabulary.

Betygskriterier

Eleven lyssnar samt förstår och tolkar på ett välgrundat och nyanserat sätt såväl helhet som detaljer i talat språk i måttligt tempo och i olika sammanhang.I muntliga framställningar av olika slag formulerar sig eleven med viss variation, tydligt och sammanhängande. Eleven formulerar sig även med flyt och viss anpassning till syfte, mottagare och situation.
